Gabriela Carrizo's production is as much a dance statement as an opera: dancing alter egos, electronic soundscapes, raw flamenco, and a hard-edged physical language replacing the usual dialogue.

Asmik Grigorian's Carmen — the festival's most talked-about debut — is no femme fatale stereotype, but a living, vulnerable woman who defies the very image imposed on her. With Jonathan Tetelman (Don José), Kristina Mkhitaryan (Micaëla), and Davide Luciano (Escamillo).
