Director Cyril Teste brings three distinct Salomes to the stage in this production, making the heroine’s energy and heartbeat palpable. The adult Salome, Malin Byström, channels the character’s profound horror through both voice and dramatic presence, while one of the "younger" versions—portrayed by the talented ballerina Anna Chisnova—delivers a stunning and unforgettable interpretation of the "Dance of the Seven Veils." 

The Vienna State Opera, as always, offers a luxuriously rich sound and a vibrant explosion of color. Conductor Philippe Jordan leads a dynamic and nuanced performance of the score, navigating its shifting tonalities—from jarring percussion to delicate solos—laying bare all the contradictions and contrasts inherent in both the music and the story.
